Auch wenn das Semester schon ein paar Wochen alt ist, wird es auch in diesem Sommersemester ein studentisches Kolloquium am John-F.-Kennedy-Institut geben.
Das Student Colloquium soll allen Studierenden die Möglichkeit geben, vor einer studentischen Gruppe Vorträge jeglicher Art zu halten. Ihr könnt die Plattform des Kolloquiums nutzen, um z.B. Eure Bachelor- oder Masterarbeiten mündlich vorzutragen (eine gute Übung für die mündliche BA oder MA Prüfung), ihr könnt z.B. halb-fertige Essays oder Hausarbeiten auf ihre "Präsentierbarkeit" prüfen, oder auch anderen kreativen und akademischen Projekten in ungezwungenem Rahmen ein Publikum verschaffen.
Unsere erste Sitzung findet nächsten Montag, am 14.5.2012, im Raum 340 statt. Anstatt eines wöchentlichen Treffens hatten wir uns das Kolloquium in diesem Semester in Form einer Mini-Konferenz vorgestellt. Ein passender Termin hierfür soll dann am besten auch am Montag gefunden werden. Auch alle weiteren Fragen werden hoffentlich geklärt!
Falls ihr bis dahin noch Fragen habt, könnt ihr Euch per email (beratung@jfki.fu-berlin.de) oder in der Sprechstunde der studentischen Studienberatung gerne im Voraus informieren.

Even though the Semester started a few weeks ago already, there is going to be a student colloquium this summer semester.
The student colloquium is meant to give students the opportunity to give
presentations of many kinds in front of their peers. You can use this
as a platform to present your BA or MA-thesis (this is a good
preparation for the oral defense of your thesis), you
can give presentations on drafts of Essays you are currently working on
or just give a talk on a finished term paper in order to hone your
presentation skills. We encourage you to participate with any creative
or academic project in order to engage with your
fellow students in a productive and relaxed environment.
Our first meeting takes place next Monday on May 14th in room 340.
Instead of having weekly sessions, we are opting for a mini-conference
at some point in the semester. We hope to find a suitable date to hold
this conference at our first meeting. So if you
are interested, it is crucial for you to be present at this session or
if this is not possible contact us in advance. All further questions you
might have will be discussed there as well.
Please feel free to get in touch with us by email if you have any
pressing questions you would like to address before the first meeting or
come to the student counselors office hours.

“Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy”: Psychological and Structural Doubling in David Fincher’s Fight
Club Julia Trompeter & Xaver Römer gnip-gnop: Sprechduette. Literarisches Experiment an der Grenze von Sprache und Musik Abstract Der deutschen Sprache wird gerne unterstellt, dass sie wenig melodisch sei, dafür aber eigne sie sich, vor allem wegen der Möglichkeit endlose Komposita zu bilden, hervorragend zur Amtssprache. Diesen und anderen Vorurteilen wollen wir mit unserem Projekt „Sprechduette“ auf künstlerische Art begegnen. Der linguistische Vortrag zur Phonetik, Pragmatik, Syntax und Semantik wird hier nicht als wissenschaftlicher Monolog sondern als künstlerisch-konkreter Dialog vorgeführt. Die Duette, die der diplomierte Jazzgitarrist Xaver Römer auch musikalisch beeindruckend arrangiert, irritieren, strapazieren und fordern Konzentration und Humor des Hörers gleichermaßen heraus. Anlehnend an die Traditionen von Dada und der Wiener Gruppe, insbesondere aber durch den Impuls der Sprechduette von Gerhard Rühm und Monika Lichtenfels, haben wir eine eigene Form der Auseinandersetzung mit Sprache im dialogischen Prinzip erarbeitet. 16. bedeuten Mikro- und Makrokosmos topographische und psychologische
Kategorien der Semantisierung von Raum und Figur. In einem Spiel aus
Projektion und Reflexion eröffnet der Film die Frage, ob es den Figuren
in der Konfrontation mit der Stadt möglich ist, eine charakterliche
Entwicklung zu vollziehen, die nicht unbedingt die Heilung von Neurosen
bedeutet, ihnen aber gleichwohl eine integre Existenz ermöglicht; ob
Innen- und Außenwelt in ihrer Kollision voneinander profitieren können.
Bedenkt man zudem, dass im poetischen Werk die Form und die von ihr
ausgehende Wirkung den Kunstgenuss erwirken – die Zeichen also autonom
von ihren empirischen Signifikaten zu betrachten sind –, und dass im
Film vorrangig visuell erzählt wird, erhalten die Semantisierungen des
Makro- und Mikrokosmos besondere Relevanz für Erzählform,

products of creative imagination materialized in visual representations with
aesthetic status. Figurative and abstract art coexist like a manifestation of the liberty of expression which involves an aesthetic attitude both of the author (imaginative thinking) and of the spectator (sensation, emotional experience). For the figurative there is a whole pleiad of landscape painters among whom can be mentioned Bruno Côté with his works important though their dramatic load, but also Jacques Hébert for the spontaneity and subtle chromatism of his watercolours. Abstract painting asserted itself thanks first to Riopelle and then gained
ground gradually in contemporary painting through the work of some artists like
Yolande Charland. For their interpretation, the problem of a hypothetical
intentionalism is sometimes raised. Even if sometimes metamorphoses of the
visual take place through paradoxes, distortions of the real, deviations from

Alkhalldy Political Islamic Movements and Gender in Iraq Abstract My research focuses on the following areas: the rise of Political Islam (Islamism) in Iraq, in particular the rise of modern Shiite Islamic militancy and its impact on the status of women, after the fall of Saddam's regime (from 2003 up to the present). Special attention is paid to women's responses to the discourses on Islamic movements today. I have grouped them into three general categories: 1. conservative religious women, 2. secular women who call for democratic approaches, and 3. ordinary women who accommodate themselves to Islamist stricture. This research study will examine the overall impact of the rise of political Islamism, in particular Shiite Islamism, on women’s rights in post-conflict Iraq. Before I address the major issue, however, it is important to look briefly at the historical process of the formation of Islamic Movements by identifying the social origins, structures and cultural spaces of the gradual emergence of the Islamic movements in Iraq.
