Student Colloquium

Sonntag, 9. Januar 2011

Februar) muss leider ausfallen.  An ihre Stelle tritt Andrea Rottmann mit dem Thema: "Back to the Future in Wisconsin: Revisiting a 1905 Class Prophecy in Photos."

Sonntag, 17. Januar 2010

Februar verschoben.

After having taken a break this current winter semester, we have decided to continue the Student Colloquium in the summer. We're looking forward to hearing about your projects, so make sure to send us your proposals!

 Wednesday, 14 April 2010

Once again we will be starting off the Student Colloquium with a Coffee and Cake session.  We will be meeting on Monday, 19 April at 4pm in room 319Anyone who is interested in the colloquium (either as presenter or audience member) is very welcome to come. It might be a nice way to get to know each other, and a more informal start of the new semester. Bring cake and/or cookies if you'd like. Bring friends. If you have any questions about the colloquium, we'd be happy to answer them. And if you'd like to sign up for a presentation spot, you can do that then too.

We hope to see many of you there!

Since we didn't have any volunteers to speak at the first session on 19 October, we decided to have an informal meeting with coffee and cake.  We hope you will all be able to join us!

First of all, we want to once again thank you for the interest you’ve shown in the Student Colloquium at the JFK-Institute.  We are very happy that we have already received so many reactions from all of you.  But under the motto the more the merrier, do pass on the news to any friends and acquaintances you think might be interested in participating, either as a speaker or as an equally welcome audience member.

As we are well into September and the new semester will be starting again soon, we thought now was a good time to send you all an update on some organizational matters:

Time and place: the meetings will take place every other Monday at 4-6pm in room 340 at the John F. Kennedy-Institute.

Format of the sessions: we have decided to have two speakers per session with presentations of about 20-30 min.  Since each session is about 90 min, this will also allow for approximately 15-25 min. of discussion time for each speaker.

Language: as we've already mentioned in the call for papers, presentations can be in either German or English.  We also want to point out, however, that we want this to be a completely bilingual space, which means that anyone can speak either German or English at all times.  Feel free to express yourself in the language that you are most comfortable with.

Deadline: If you’ve made up your mind that you want to present (which hopefully you will), please let us know by Monday 5 October, which is a week before the start of the Vorlesungszeit.  If you are a bit late you can still contact us, but we will start making the schedule in that week.

What we want you to tell us by Oct. 5 is:

- the title of your paper

- the dates that you would not be able to present

You will find a list with the dates for our sessions here.

You are not required to do so, but you can send us an abstract if you want.  If you do, it will be posted on the program section of the website.

If you have any further questions you are welcome to contact us, as always.
